 Trehalose, also known as melezitose or fungus sugar, is a safe and reliable carbohydrate. Trehalose is a non-reducing sugar composed of two glucose molecules linked by a 1,1-glycosidic bond. It has three isomers: trehalose (α,α), maltotriose (β,β), and new trehalose (α,β), and it has non-specific protective effects on various bioactive substances. Trehalose is widely present in many edible plants and animals as well as microorganisms in nature, such as mushrooms, seaweeds, legumes, shrimp, bread, beer, and yeast-fermented foods that people consume in daily life.

 

 Applications:

 

 1. In medicine, it can be applied in the stabilization of reagents and diagnostic drugs.

 

 2. In cosmetics, it can be used as a raw material for cosmetic production with effects of inhibiting skin dryness and moisturizing.

 

 3. Trehalose can be used as a sweetener, flavor enhancer, and stabilizer in formulations such as lipsticks and lip balms.

 

 4. In the food industry, it can be used as a sweetener with properties such as non-reducing nature, moisture retention, anti-freezing ability, and resistance to drying.

 

 5. Trehalose has good affinity and stability with membrane proteins; it can be used as a skin permeation agent in topical products to enhance the absorption of nutrients by the skin. When combined with phospholipids to prepare liposomes, the effect is even better. It has excellent moisturizing properties and is effective in treating issues caused by dry skin such as increased flaking, dry heat of the skin, and keratinization. The usage amount in creams, washes, and ointments is between 5% to 10%.

It is slightly sweet, with a sweetness level of 70%-80% compared to sucrose, and has a cooling sensation. Its caloric value is low, only 1/10 that of sucrose. Its chemical properties are similar to other polyols; it does not contain reducing aldehyde groups and is stable to heat and acid (suitable for pH 2-12). Compared to other sugar alcohols like sorbitol, mannitol, and xylitol, it has a lower molecular weight and higher osmotic pressure in solution. The sweetness characteristics of erythritol are very close to those of sucrose, being clean-tasting without any aftertaste. When used in combination with other sweeteners such as aspartame, saccharin, or sucralose, it not only improves and harmonizes flavor quality but also offers advantages such as synergistic effects and cost reduction.

Oxidized Starch

Oxidized starch reduces the gelatinization temperature of starch, decreases hot paste viscosity while enhancing thermal stability. The product has a pure white color, transparent paste, good film-forming properties, and excellent freeze-thaw resistance. It is a low-viscosity, high-concentration thickener widely used in the textile, paper-making, and fine chemical industries.

Acid-treated Starch

This product is made from corn, cassava, and waxy corn starch, processed by chemical methods. It has low viscosity at high temperatures, making it easy to process; high viscosity at low temperatures, strong gelation, and good acid stability.

Cationic Starch

Cationic starch is a starch derivative that introduces tertiary amine or quaternary ammonium groups into the starch macromolecule, giving the starch cationic properties.

Industrial-grade Sodium Gluconate

Sodium gluconate, also known as sodium pentahydroxycaproate, is a white or light yellow crystalline powder that is easily soluble in water, slightly soluble in alcohol, and insoluble in ether.
